Visitors Centre Volunteer

We require volunteers every day apart from a Monday and Wednesday, for morning sessions (8am-12pm) and afternoon sessions (1pm - 4.30pm). As a volunteer at the visitors centre, you will be required to cover most of the services we provide, including:

  • Booking Visits 
  • Giving advice on ID requirements
  • Changing bank notes for coins
  • Working on the 'First time Visitors' Desk
  • Catering

We also encourage the volunteers to interact with the visitors and offer assistance and help. We are also keen for our volunteers to assist in updating information on our notice boards, this may be on various issues, for example, housing, debt, alcohol and drug use.

Family Services Volunteer

This role is to work with the Family Services staff to deliver a range of support and intervention services to families visiting HMP Nottingham. You would be required to give information and guidance on prison visiting procedures, provide practical and emotional support to families and visitors and undertake all roles within the Visitors Centre, including booking in visitors, serving in the tea bar and answering the phone. Hospitality Volunteer

This role involves working within the prison visits hall and/or visitor centre to deliver a high quality refreshment service to visitors and inmates during visiting hours. You would be required to prepare sandwiches and snacks in the Coffee Bar, to sell hot and cold beverages and snacks to the customers and ensure the cleanliness of the coffee bar prior to, during and at the end of opening hours.
