We have opportunities at HMP Cardiff, Swansea and Usk Prescoed for:
Occasionally we need volunteers to help us delver courses and special projects, such as the FLIP family literacy project.
The roles are subject to security vetting which can take a few weeks. We ask that you stay at least 6 months and volunteer for 8 hours minimum per month. The days and times can be flexible to suit you.
Through The Gate Mentoring for Offenders
Across Wales and the South West we have opportunities for volunteers to provide mentoring support to offenders on release from custody. Our Through The Gate Mentors meet with Service Users prior to their release, on the day of their release, and approximately two weeks after release to provide 1:1 mentoring support, helping with their immediate resettlement needs. This can include escorting the Service User to appointments in the community, linking them in with appropriate support services, and providing practical and emotional support during the mentoring period.
Given the large geographical area this project covers, we are looking for volunteers from locations right across Wales and the South West of England.
