Every year, we support thousands of people across England and Wales affected by the criminal justice system to make a fresh start.
On 22 October, the next group of prisoners will be released under the government's early release scheme. While this action will go some way to alleviate prison overcrowding, immediate support is needed to ensure prison leavers do not end up back behind bars.
Pact CEO Andy Keen-Downs welcomes the scheme and explains why more investment in family services is the answer to ensure people leaving prison rcan make a fresh start.
